The Finishing Touches: All the love for pink and copper

We’ve been back at home about 6 weeks now and life is starting to get back to normal.  There is still a lot left to be done (I’m currently sat in my un-tiled kitchen) but most of this is adding the homely, finishing touches to each room. For so long we had a brown and cream base to our home and I love that very little of that remains but what it does mean is that a lot of our home accessories no longer go.  The main colours are now off-white, grey and navy and I’ve found myself drawn to…

Cushion Covers for a Peaceful Summer Bedroom

I love my bed, always have done.  When I was at college and university I would often take myself off for an afternoon nap, I still try to now if I ever get the chance.  Is there anything better than curling up in bed on your own for a quick power snooze? Extension News 4 {The New Bedroom}

As we are in the final days of our extension build all my thoughts are turning to decoration.  Whilst the focus has been on the new kitchen/living/dining space we have created downstairs one room upstairs has been completely revamped and is unrecognisable from how it was previously.  I have mentioned before how our bedroom has been a little bit of a bugbear for me, a space that I loved but with decoration that I hated. If you’d have told me a few years ago I would be installing a blue (not just blue, but a dark blue) kitchen in my house I would never have believed you.  In the 16 years we have been home owners we have always played it safe with decor, especially with such an expensive thing as a kitchen.  We had oak in our last house and opted for a country cottage cream, with oak worktops, when we moved into our current home. It wasn’t that I didn’t like a bit of colour, I had often been drawn to the pale…

The Forever Home: Extension News 3 {Three Months In}

The original plan was to blog more regularly about the extension but a delay with the steelwork meant there was quite a delay in any building work happening on the house.  The builders focused on the garden and creating our sunken seating area but I soon realised isn’t too much to say about a great big muddy hole. We’ve been out of the house for the past four weeks, the long awaited steelwork went in the week after we left and since then the house has really come on. The exterior walls were completed, the existing back walls to the…
