With the leaves changing and the natural colors of the season, fall is possibly the most magical time to have a wedding. There are many ways you can subtly add details of nature and the season into your wedding. If you are planning a fall wedding, be sure to take full advantage of all the magic and beauty of the season to make your day as unique as possible.

Take Advantage of the Outdoors

In the fall, nature will do most of the decorating for you if you plan an outdoor wedding. Planning an outdoor wedding can be tricky, so keep in mind the weather and circumstances of where you live. Even if you don’t plan on having the ceremony outside, you will want to make sure you have some pictures taken outside. With this in mind, be sure that you have a way to stay warm for the photoshoot. You will also want to keep that in mind when picking bridesmaids dresses because you want your whole party to be as comfortable as possible. If you choose an inside venue for your ceremony, be sure to bring as much of the outside in as you can.

Color Scheme

You also want to make sure the colors you pick for your wedding will flow naturally with the colors of the season. Navy, mustard, or burgundy bridesmaid dresses coordinate perfectly with the flowers that will be available and the natural colors of the trees. You can add this color to your bouquet and flowers on the cake to tie all the colors together. Don’t be afraid to use several different colors to draw on the season.

Rustic Feel

Fall is also the perfect time to add a little rustic flair to your wedding. Natural wood tones for tables, chairs, accents, and other decorations can give your wedding a whimsical woodland feel. Small lights can add to the rustic feel and will seem like your wedding is surrounded by starlight. Pairing rustic accents with more refined and delicate details can also really bring out the subtle details you put so much time into planning.

Reception Area

If your ceremony is outside, you could also have your reception outside, but you will want to make sure you have a backup plan if the weather doesn’t cooperate. It can also get nippy at night, so you might want to consider having the reception inside a tent or building. There are also open roof venues that can give you an outside feel while still keeping your guests warm.

Fall Food Choices

You can also bring more of a fall feel into your wedding by the choices you make with the food. Cozy food can be dressed up to be perfect for a wedding. Anything wood-fired like pizza or main meat course adds a smoky, campfire feel to ordinary food. Dessert bars with toffee apples and warm desserts are perfect for a chilly fall evening. Adding a hot chocolate bar is another way to be sure guests feel extra cozy and enjoy the fall season.
