An Ode To Chicken Pox

All weekend plans are cancelled
We won’t be going out
Chicken pox has paid a visit
We’re certainly in no doubt

It started off quite mildly
The odd spot here or there
But now there’s bloody loads of them
Even in his hair

My poor boy looks a bugger
With his red and scabby face
I really wish I could stop the pain
I’d gladly take his place

We’ve done the oaty bath thing
And covered him in cream
He’s no idea what’s going on
Of course he’s going to scream

He cries, mummy help me
Words that hurt to hear
I hope this passes quickly
And the spots will soon be clear

I want to see my gorgeous son
Back to a normal, happy boy
Without the pain in his eyes
Just a face that’s full of joy

Oh no – I noticed, it takes 3 days for the pox to stop sprouting with a peak on the second day. I really enjoy reading your blog 🙂 x

This is the 3rd day of spotting and it seemed to be calming down this afternoon, a lot less enflamed so hoping tomorrow is a much better day.
Thank your for reading, it’s always lovely to know that someone is enjoying it 🙂 x

Ouch, poor little man. Have you tried an Oat bath? Cut off the foot of an old pair of tights, fill it with a few handfuls of porridge oats, knot it and hold it under a stream of running water in the bath. The bath water will go milky. It really calms and dries out the spots. Good luck. #pocolo

I think they say sodium bicarbonate baths are supposed to be soothing and Eurex cream takes the itch out x
