Curb appeal is important when you want to sell your house. It means making your house look more appealing from the outside, to attract potential buyers. You can use some of these tricks to get your home looking good to make it easier to sell and attract the right buyer.
Trim the hedges and shrubs
This is one of the easiest ways to make the outside of your house look much tidier. Trim back any shrubs and hedges that have got overgrown to get them looking neat. A tidy front garden makes a good impression from the street.
Add some planters
Buy some plant pots and fill them with some flowers or greenery. This is a clever way to add a pop of colour to the front of your house. Pots by the front door look welcoming when people arrive at the house. You could use hanging baskets too for the same kind of effect.
Clean
If your windows are smeared and dirty, then your house isn’t going to look appealing. Keep the windows clean to keep your house looking smart. Keep the rest of the outside clean too, by raking up fallen leaves, using pressure washing services on the driveway, and keeping everything tidy.
Add colour to the front door
Painting your front door a fun colour will look welcoming and appealing from the road and will add some interest to the front of your house. If you’re trying to sell, don’t choose too wild a colour, as it could put off a potential buyer. Look at what your neighbours have, and choose something in a similar palette.
Hang a seasonal wreath
A wreath for the front door isn’t just for Christmas. Seasonal wreaths are pretty and trendy, and it’s easy to find some gorgeous ones made from seasonal plants and decorated with items like fruit, easter eggs, or Halloween decorations, depending on the time of year. Buy a range for different seasons, and decorate the door all year round.
Add porch seating
If you have a front porch with enough space, add some seating. A porch swing, a bench, or a couple of chairs with a little table looks welcoming whenever someone comes to the house. It also offers a great spot for buyers to imagine themselves enjoying a cup of coffee and watching the world go by.
Make your entryway welcoming
An entryway that has been decorated makes your house look much prettier and will greet visitors. Keep your front door’s paint fresh, keep the entryway clean and tidy, add some colourful potted plants, and keep your door’s hardware clean. A doormat is a good addition too.
Light up the outside
Outdoor lighting looks nice at night but can also help to make your home safer and more secure too. Automatic lights are useful when you come home in the dark to help you get to the front door without tripping, and will also put off any would-be burglars who might approach the house. Add some lamps and your house will be ready to welcome you home.
