What To Pack For A Girls Only Holiday

I’m the resident packer in our family.  In a house full of boys it always ends up being my job whenever we go away to get everyone organised, to ensure they have everything that they need and, more importantly that it all fits in the case.

Having to pack for only myself is a luxury in itself but even more so when it involves a weekend away with just the girls.  Admittedly it’s been a very long time since I escaped on a girlie holiday but as my school friends and I are turning 40 over the next twelve to eighteen months there is talk that we deserve a child and husband free break to celebrate.

The planner in me is already thinking about which case I’ll be taking and what will be going in it.  I’ve been browsing the Simply Beach website for inspiration on how to look beach chic and here are a few of my essential items needed for a girlie weekend in the sun.

A day bag

Usually I’m the one on the beach with a huge bag, and then I’m still carrying a couple of extra beach towels because they won’t fit in, but if it’s only me a much smaller bag will do.  As long as there’s space for a towel, some suncreen and a book I’m happy.

Bikinis

Whilst on holiday with the kids you will normally find me playing around the splash pool but left to my own devices I am more than happy to lay on a sun lounger, book in hand, soaking up the rays.  Simply Beach have a stunning range of swimwear from brands such as Melissa Odabash, Stella McCartney Swim and Seafolly to name just a few.

Beachwear

When it’s time to go for lunch I want something that I can throw on easily but also looks stylish whilst being able to keep me cool, I’m not asking for much am I? Simply Beach also has a fab range of beachwear, whether it’s a playsuit, kaftan or a pair of shorts and a top, there’s something for everyone.

Accessories

Who doesn’t need a hat and shades in the sunshine? I’m not a fan of huge hats, I prefer a more Trilby style hat but you will always find me with a pair of sunglasses to hand.  I’m not a fan of the sun in my eyes.

A good book

Last but not least on my packing list is a good book (or two or three).  Life is so busy the rest of the year that holidays are one of the few times I get to sit and really lose myself in a book, and I have been known to read one from start to finish in less than a day.  A few books are always in my case whenever we go away.

So far I’ve been focusing on my day time needs and I think this has all things covered but I need to give a bit more thought to my evening wear.  Last time we all went on a girlie holiday we were 18, and into high heels and clubwear which I’m not sure I can pull off anymore. I’m sure I’ll manage a couple of shopping trips before we actually go.
