A bit of an oldie today, a post from December, thinking back to our Winter Wedding:
I couldn’t let today go by without mentioning that 4 years ago today me and hubby got married. If you’ve had a look at the weather outside today, this was what we had expected on our big day. Windy, rainy and cold! So we were amazed when, whilst I was getting ready, great big fat snowflakes started to fall. Having an emotional moment when the first flakes started to fall!
It was beautiful! But with it came a few minor problems. When bridesmaid shopping the girls had insisted they didn’t need a wrap or throw (I’m not a skinflint, I did offer!) One look outside and they were regretting the decision they’d made back in lovely, warm March. I’m still not sure how we managed to rustle up three gold wraps in half an hour. Okay, they didn’t all match but it really didn’t matter.
The old cars hired to transport us were without heating, but the chauffeurs did a fab job of rustling up some blankets for us to huddle under. The scenic route to the venue had to be abandoned due to icy roads, so the motorway it was. A journey that seemed to pass by far too quickly, I remember wanting to stay in the car for just that little while longer with my new husband before facing the madness of a wedding reception.
We’d collected a whole host of brollies expecting the worst. The umbrellas we had collected were put into use after all, but not for torrential rain!
Oh, and my brother fell flat on his bum outside the church on the slippy snow. A fact that still makes me laugh now, he doesn’t find it so funny! The next day my new husband and I put on our wellies and spent the afternoon walking in the snow before going for Christmas dinner in our local where our lovely landlord brought us a bottle of champagne to congratulate us. Such a perfect weekend!
Oh I love this! Happy anniversary love birds x
Thank you! Although Mr Love Bird had a stonking hangover from his works Xmas do the night before so was slightly in my bad books. Good job he’d bought me a good card.
Aww, so perfect and romantic!
Thanks, it was so amazing. I still can’t believe it snowed!
Beautiful pictures. I am hoping for a snow day sometime this year, I love them. And it might have been cold, but the snow really sets off your vintage car. What a day!
I love snow days too. Everyone else was freezing with big coats on and I just had my dress & veil and didn’t feel cold once. Must have been the excitement!
Happy anniversary!! A snow day – so romantic! x
Thank you, it was very romantic. Although the lovely scenic planned route to the reception venue had to be scrapped due to slippy roads so we ended up on the motorway.
That sounds like a really beautiful and magical day! xx
Aw a white wedding! So magical xx

Wow, what a day to remember. I laughed when you said your brother had fell on his bottom, I can’t help but laugh when people fall.

I always think white weddings looks so beautiful but I can see that practically it could be a little difficult! Oh bless you on that photo, so sweet. Must have definitely been a day to remember xx
Even despite the little hiccups it looks so magical. Belated Happy anniversary to you 🙂
Bet its got loads of really lovely memories. I got married on the 4th July and it was some random heat wave day. I was completely melting and having to stand in front of a fan constantly!
Happy wedding anniversary!!!!! That’s so magical a wedding in the snow. I bet it was absolutely beautiful even though at the time you probably were so nervous about all that snow. Love the first photo of you too! Pure beauty. I snorted when you said at the bottom about your brother falling flat on his bum. hahaha Not funny I bet but can’t imagine it happened all in slow motion. lol That would have been me. Aw, a winter wedding must be that much more beautiful with the addition of snow (and obv that much more troublesome!). Makes a change from rain that’s for sure! I love the b&w photo of the wedding car – really atmospheric! X #sharewithme
