Yesterday the sun came out and for the first time this year it wasn’t accompanied with the bitter cold that comes with the winter sun. It was warm, really warm. Which meant it was far too nice a day to spend inside.
We are lucky that a few minutes drive away from our house is a little nature reserve that despite being in the middle of what is quite a suburban area makes you feel like you are miles away and even when it’s busy (as it was yesterday) you hardly bump into anyone on the walk round. Well, maybe a giant wooden owl!
It somewhere we’ve been bringing O since he was a baby. When we first brought him he snuggled into Daddy’s chest in his BabyBjorn carrier (and we had to stop every 20 metres because my husband was paranoid he was going to suffocate him), before progressing to his pram and then his buggy. He’s been walking round it for a while, but yesterday was the first time that he walked all the way round without once asking to be carried. Another sign that my little man is growing up!
One thing about O is that he is super competitive and we don’t get to walk round altogether, everything is a race. A race up the hill, a race to the next tree and Daddy is not allowed to beat us, or be in front of us at any point on the walk. If I’m lucky sometimes I’m allowed to win, but never Daddy!
It was so lovely to be out in the sunshine and what Spring day isn’t complete without a little trip to feed the ducks. O loves it and gives a running commentary of which duck is eating which piece of bread as he’s doing it. The only problem is trying to get him to come away at the end!
Yesterday was a hint of what is to come and I can’t wait for this summer. I’ve got a feeling it’s going to be a good one!
