Motherhood is full of amazing and wonderful moments.
Starting from the day you see that second line on a pregnancy test, becoming a mum is full of excitement and terror in equal measure. The most unbelievable highs and moments where you’d chop off your right arm to protect the tiny person you created.
A world full of firsts and days where you feel so proud you could burst.
But then there are all the days inbetween.
The moments where you are just ticking along. Life is a whirl of washing and ironing, cooking, packing bags, bedtime routines and far too early mornings.
Nights where you’re changing bed sheets at 2am because your little one is sick. When you’ve had a beaker of milk spilt in your lap, and then been accidentally head butted in the nose (yes, this was my Friday night). Days when you have barely moved from the sofa, your hair is scraped back in a scruffy pony and the washing machine has not stopped all day trying to clean the sick stained bedding.
The very unglamourous times of being a mum. But the moments I want to bottle up and cherish. The times when my 2 year old needs me more than ever. When nothing but mummy cuddles will do.
When he wants me to just be his mum.
Aww lovely and so true. Gorgeous shot, hope he is feeling better but enjoy those amazing cuddles in the meantime! Xx

This is so true Jo! Sometimes when I’m tackling a massive pile of ironing I stop myself and think how, although it’s tedious, that I’m so glad to have little clothes to wash and press. I’d happily do those tedious tasks 100 times over to have my gorgeous three! Lovely post poppet xx
Ahhh never a truer word said! I love this, it’s so important to remember these truly ordinary days because lets be honest those are ones that we tend to not write about! But it’s those special little moments in those ordinary days that seem to be the most magical of all!! Lovely post! X

I am so familiar with those days, the days where the work is constant but the need is great and the cuddles are the best x

How absolutely true, even the rubbish moments are special because you’re with your child. And, it’s a very good way to view those awful, sick filled, nights! Hope he’s feeling better xx #TheOrdinaryMoments

Without it sounding cruel there is a little part of me that enjoys them being ill, in that i get to cuddle and look after them and be their no.1 all day. I obviously hate seeing them poorly though but it juts brings out a love so deep xxx

This is so lovely Jo and I completely agree, which is why I started doing this little project. I am all for the milestones and the exciting times, but actually I know that the bits where I am ‘just being mum’ are the bits I will miss the most when my girls are grown up. x

This made me have tears! Completely agree, the special times that may seem insignificant to others are the most remarkable and significant to us aren’t they. beautiful x

What a lovely post! Even though those times when you are just being mum aren’t exactly the most glamorous, it’s amazing how rewarding it is. I hope he feels better soon.

Being a mum is the most important role we’ll ever have. I’m so aware that I need to appreciate these days, even the tough days because all too soon they’ll be gone. Hope your baby gets well soon and enjoy the mummy cuddles, they’re the best!

So sweet Jo, hope he is feeling a little better. It is quite nice to get a chance to look after them when they really need you, especially as they get older and so independent. xx

I can definitely resonate with this, Jo, 100%! Sometimes I feel stuck in small-person ground hog day, where the monotony of toddler routine can make me want to pull my eyes out, but at the same time, I think if I didn’t have it now, I’d be rather lost. I kid myself that I’m all spontaneous and crazy, but I secretly like how our days tick along, and how F&S thrive from a safe, happy and stable routine. Hope little one is better soon. Oh, and I (literally) feel your pain re headbutts- they happen here far too often! x

Very true and put forward very concisely. It’s wonderful being a mum and those with no kids will never understand the feeling, but there are a lot of tedious days and chores. If all was wonderful all the time we would not appreciate it nearly as much. It’s all about finding diamonds among the dirt.
