My little boy can be quite difficult to buy for. He loves balls and cars and there’s only so many racing cars one little boy needs in his life (and that my house can hold). I have to admit I sometimes struggle to come up with ideas of what to buy him that are a little bit different and I know that he will enjoy.
When we were asked to review the Wicked Uncle website I was keen to see what made them stand out from the crowd in the toy buying business. I’ve looked in the usual places and can find it a bit overwhelming when there is so much choice.
On going onto their website I really liked that the presents were split up by age and gender. I know some people might not like this but for me I found it really useful and it will certainly come in handy when it time to buy presents for my friends little girl (I’m clueless as to what 8 year old girls are into).
There was a huge selection of toys and gifts, and by some of my favourite brands too.
The parcel containing our toys arrived within a few days and we staggered giving them to O, so he would have a chance to have a good play with each without getting distracted knowing there was something else to be playing with.
What we Chose
I’m a huge fan of Melissa and Doug toys and as O is plane mad this was the perfect choice for him. A little pre-warning: make sure you read the instructions before hand. I got him all fired up to make and decorate his plane and then realised after building the plane you needed to leave it for several hours for the glue to dry.
After realising this it did mean that building the plane and decorating it had to be done over several days as you also need to wait for the paint to dry before adding the stickers, but that was actually quite a nice thing as we kept going back to it and O was so proud when it was finished.
He insisted on showing it off to everyone (even if it doesn’t quite look like the picture).
Our second choice was this as O loves helping his granddad in the garden.
It’s a really sweet idea and we planted the cress first as I knew it would grow quickly and O has loved watching his little plants grow.
Our final choice was a marble run as O loves the one he already has and this was one has the potential for more variations on the run. It is now a permanent fixture in our living room and something that O returns to again and again.
I was really impressed with Wicked Uncle. The website was clear and easy to navigate with a fantastic range of toys, and only £2.95 for postage. I will definitely be using them again.
Disclosure : I was sent a £40 Wicked Uncle voucher for the purpose of this review but all thoughts and opinions are my own.
