No Reason To Worry

As Baby O approaches his 2nd birthday on Tuesday I can’t help but think back to the journey we’ve been on together the past couple of years. He never fails to amaze me and as he grows into an independent (and very stubborn) little man I still can’t quite believe he’s mine! On this day 2 years ago I had just been admitted into hospital to be induced as the consultant was concerned that Baby O was not developing any more inside of me and they wanted him out. So it was with a mixture of excitement and nervousness that…

Should we teach our kids how to fail?

After an incident with one of my students yesterday it made me think about a training day we had at school a few years ago.  We were asked: If your child had failed their music exam, what would you say to them.  There were several options, a few “nice” options, of how the exam was unfair and there must have been a mistake etc.  The option I chose was “On the day you weren’t good enough!”  Okay, it was in my pre mummy days, but I think I’d still say the same.  I wouldn’t put it quite as bluntly…

{The Ordinary Moments #2} I Wanna Hold Your Hand!

After a Sunday afternoon trip to the pub we left hubby there and me and Baby O decided it was time we went home. We are lucky to live about 150 metres from the most lovely pub, so we were walking back. It was cold, it was dark and it was just me and O. He held my hand the entire way babbling as we went. I was so proud to be hand in hand with my beautiful boy, and I always treasure these moments as they pass so quickly. In a few years it won’t be “cool” to hold…

My Worst Mummy Mishap!

A big moment in our house at the weekend as we converted the cot into a bed. Baby O has been getting increasingly upset being in his cot (he desperately wants to be a big boy) so we thought changing into a bed would make him feel more grown up. All was going well until about half 11 and he was up and wanting to come and find us. To encourage him to get back into bed I lay in it to encourage him in. You can see where this is going can’t you? Of course the bottom gave way…

What do you buy for a 2 year old?

In just over two weeks my little man will be turning 2! Blinking 2, how the heck did that happen? I only brought him home from the hospital a few weeks ago, didn’t I? Anyway, onto more pressing issues as at the moment everyone is asking what they should buy him for his birthday, as well as for Christmas.  The downside of having a November birthday (I know, being a November baby myself) is that you get all your presents at one time of the year and then nothing much for another 11 months.  So as he gets very much spoilt by…
