Love The Little Things #27 & #28

Yay, my exam marking is eventually all finished and it feels like I can start to get my life back and begin to look forward to the summer holidays (8 more get ups to go).

So much seems to have happened over the past couple of weeks, it’s been a little bit of a whirlwind trying to fit everything in and the one thing I have had to give up spending time with is my little blog here.  I’m looking forward to us spending some quality time together over the next few weeks and getting re-acquainted.

Read I’ve barely read anything but for the past couple of days I’ve been trying to catch up on a bit of blog reading and the one post which has stuck with me is Katies at MummyDaddyMe and her post on her new healthy lifestyle.  I’ll be the first to admit I’m rubbish at sticking to any sort of exercise routine.  The only time I managed it was after being pregnant with O and I had 3 stone to shift!  She really has inspired me to get out and get on with it.  I have a very important reason for needing to get myself healthy and in the best shape I’ve ever been and her post couldn’t have come at a better time!

Watched Last Saturday was our local village carnival, one of my favourite days of the year!  Almost the entire village comes out to watch the floats and then descends on the local park for the afternoon.  The carnival parade virtually passes the front of our house so along with our neighbours we lined the streets and waved as the floats went past.  It’s scary to think next year O will be on the pre-school float, I think I’ll be crying with pride!

I’ve also watched the first episode of E4’s new drama The 100.  I’ve been desperate to fill the gap Revenge has left in my TV viewing and I think this may be it.  I missed the first 10 minutes but was hooked straight away.  I hope it stays as good as the first episode!

Heard I know I’m way behind with this but I’ve just discovered Spotify!  How amazing is it?  Two of the songs I’ve been listening to a lot over the past week or so are:

Glenn Madeiros – Nothing’s Gonna Change My Love For You – I used to love this song as a kid, but how cheesy is it?  Hubby is horrified it’s getting played in the house.

Emile Sande – Read All About It – Love this, so beautiful!

Made A plan for a night away for me and the Big Mr.  I am so excited!  Hubby has taken the last 2 weeks of my summer holiday off so we are off to Wales the first week for some family time and we’ve booked a night in our favourite hotel in Manchester for the second week for just the two of us.  I’m already looking forward to going for a swim and a Jacuzzi, food and cocktails and let’s not forget the lie-in with the papers the next morning!

Wore Last Wednesday was our Year 13’s Leaving Prom so an occasion to get dressed up.  So out came my trusty wrap dress which has seen me through many a formal occasion; weddings, christenings, proms.  It’s getting on a bit now (how long before you can call something vintage?) but I still love it just as much as when I bought it!

Not last week, but wearing the dress at O's christening.

Not last week, but wearing the dress at O’s christening.

And lastly…one of the best bits of the past 2 weeks is that O’s dummy has gone!  I’ve been really worried about how this would go and had planned to tackle it in the summer but a little accident and a trip to the dentist ended up having an unexpected positive outcome.

So there we go, a very brief round up of what we’ve been loving.  There is so much more but I fear boring you all do will leave it there.  Big thanks to Morgana for hosting this fab linky.  Please click below to check out the other lovely ladies linking up!

I’m on count down to Summer too! This end of term has been manic for us, not like normal. Our carnival is next week – really looking forward to it! x

Ours is slightly calmer than normal, we usually have activity week for the last week which is some form of torture but its not running this year. Phew! Last year I ended up trying to teach a group of disinterested 14 years olds how to knit for a week. Yes, it was as bad as it sounds! x

We have activity week too! It’s dire. Although this year I am on work exp visits, aka, not much to do and can get loads of work for September done x

So lovely to have you back! Missed your posts Jo.
Spotify is amazing, I honestly couldn’t survive without it now. It’s great for discovering new music and re-discovering old stuff. I’m writing this comment being serenaded by your cheesey first choice! 😉
    Enjoy the weekend! xxx

That’s one of my fave things about the summer hols, not rushing. We’re generally up early anyway but it is so nice to have nowhere to be at a certain time! x

I thought Katie’s post was really inspiring too – amazing change in her body shape in just 6 months! I’m intrigued about The 100 now. I’m not surprised you’re looking forward to your holiday – I’ve never been away from my kids for more than one night – so Jeal!! 🙂 X

I’m just rubbish at sticking to something once the initial excitement has worn off. Seeing the difference it can make from other people really helps to keep me focused! x

I will have to check out the 100 sounds good, I am missing grey anatomy and revenge. Hate summer no tv dramas. lol You look amazing in your dress. I was in awe of Katie’s fitness post too. I wish I could stick with an exercise routine. I am a huge routine person by nature but for some reason just not in this area. hahahhaa Lovely #littleloves

Love the idea of a local carnival. Wish we had something like that. I’ve been told The 100 is good so will have to check out. Have a good weekend. Emma x

Hurray for saying goodbye to the dummy! I have a dress like that, it’s an old reliable, I love it, it has seen better days, but it gets me out of a lot of wardrobe drama when I need something to wear quick!! Would love a night away too, bet you are counting down the daysxx
