Love The Little Things #21

How gorgeous was the weather last weekend? It really makes a difference when the sun comes out, you can’t help but be in a happy mood and it’s led into a pretty fab week.

The highlights are:

Read Not that much to be honest, we’ve been outdoors most of the week, O sulks when we try to come in.  I have been reading my lovely Year 11’s yearbooks as they left this week.  I love the “awards” they do in there and whilst they won’t be funny to anyone who doesn’t know them they had me chuckling and what a lovely thing for them to look back on in years to come.

Watched My little man loves playing with a ball! He was honestly kicking a ball before he could walk.  He would bum shuffle around the downstairs kicking a football with his leading leg.  The lovely weather has meant he has spent hours in the garden playing football.  On Saturday night after a family BBQ I sat watching O play footie with his dad and grandad and it was so sweet to watch three generations playing together.

Heard Ever since O was tiny I’ve always sang to him “you are my sunshine”.  I only know the first verse so it gets repeated a lot, but this week he’s started to join in. He sings the last word of each line and it is one of the cutest things ever. Plus he has a great big smile on his face whilst he’s singing with mummy!

Made On a Thursday I always make the effort to make a proper home cooked meal for when hubby comes home (I swear I would have made a great 1950’s housewife).  Something that on a normal working day we wouldn’t have the time to do. Quite often it tends to be a full on roast dinner because there’s something a bit cheeky about having a roast on a mid week night.  Yesterday whilst the weather had been a bit more miserable it was a roast chicken type of day, and with proper gravy.  Perfect rainy day food!

Wore More of a tried on and bought rather than a wore but I’ve purchased my first pair of shorts in years! When I was pregnant with O my thighs quadrupled in size and since then I’ve been a bit paranoid and covered them up in summer dresses, but this year I thought “sod it, I’m going to get me some shorts” so off I popped to Next, picked some up and I really like them.  I also got a pair of Harem pants which I’ve always thought were the work of the devil, but these are actually really flattering and so comfy, perfect for the journey to Spain on Sunday.

And lastly…the week kicked off with a great night out with a lovely friend last Friday. It started off very civilized with a glass of wine and dinner before descending into a cider/Malibu fuelled drink fest with us heading home way past kicking out time.  H has had a fairly horrendous couple of months but is coming out the other side and it was great to see her so positive and happy.  Plus her tales of tipping her toe into the world of internet dating had me crying with laughter.

I love the shorts Jo! And I’m kind of with you on the harem pants thing but then I am the complete opposite of a trend setter and I tend to only get stuck into a fashion once it is *completely* unavoidable in the shops* (*see skinny jeans 🙂 ) so I guess I’ll end up with harem pants at some point! Thursday dinner is very grown up of you – I always thing I won’t be a proper adult until I am adept at cooking a lovely roast but it hasn’t happened yet!! X #lovethelittlethings

Up until a week ago neither did I, but loving them already. But more practical than summer dresses when you’re running around after a 2 year old little monkey. Shorts are the future 😉 xx

You look fab in those shorts! We sing You are my Sunshine a lot, still only the 1st verse. I once tried learning the rest but gave up!
