One of the reasons I love this linky, and still continue to join up almost every week is that I love spending a little bit of time focusing on the positives of the past seven days. I missed last weeks as we had some really sad news and it was hard to look beyond that. It was the sort of news you hear happening to someone else but never imagine will happen to people you love. It is not my news to share but it has rocked our family and has left a lot of heartache in its wake.
Sorry to start off so gloomy, but moving on to happier things.
Read
The Christmas countdown has officially begun, the Boot gift guide is out. When I saw it yesterday I had to pick up a copy and read it with a brew and a few chocolate fingers. I remember as a teenager going through it putting stars next to everything I wanted and leaving it lying around for my mum and dad to see. Subtlety was not my strong point!
Watched
You know Winter’s coming when your favourite programs are back on. Of course I was watching The Walking Dead on Monday night, even if I am struggling to keep up with all the jumping around it does, and the added bonus of the week was that The Apprentice was on for two nights. I’m not quite sure why I even still like it as all I end up doing is shouting at the TV in frustration, but I rarely miss an episode.
Wore
I’ve enjoyed the weather getting a bit cooler this week as it has given me the opportunity to wear my new scarf and winter woolies. The scarf is huge but so cosy and perfect for those chilly mornings.
Heard
We went to visit what will hopefully be his new school in September and so we heard his new head teacher whilst on the tour. I loved the place, it was everything that we wanted it to be. A small village school with friendly staff just a few minutes walk from home, I can’t even comprehend him going elsewhere. We live almost as close to the school as you can get so I’m hoping it’s almost a done deal but I’ll still be keeping my fingers crossed and saying a little prayer when I submit his application.
Made
I’ve been using up our apples from the garden and been making apple crumbles (yes, plural). Some of the apples have been stewed and frozen for using later and the rest have been made into crumbles, which never seem to last too long when my husband is around.
I forgot to take a picture before they were eaten so I’m making do with a picture of an apple in its pre-crumble days.
And Lastly…
My husband always says life is about balance and whilst we have had some truly awful news in the past week we’ve also had some really exciting and amazing news too. Sorry to be so cryptic but it’s been a very strange couple of weeks.
Have a lovely week and only seven days until half term!
Sorry to hear you’ve had some bad news but it’s wonderful about the school. Both mine attend the village school and it really is a wonderful place, so fingers crossed for you! xx

Sorry to hear about your news. The hat is lovely – not dug mine out just yet but not long. I must get organising for Christmas too soon, don’t want to be a last minute girl again like last year 🙂 xx
