Well, we had a couple of days of summer over the past week, didn’t we? I may even have worn a pair of shorts, and not been cold, hurray! A pity that now it is chucking it down with rain, but we can’t have everything. We’ve been having a lovely chilled week for the past seven days and it really is lovely having nowhere specific to be. Only two more weeks and then another school year starts all over again but I’m planning on making the most of the time we have left.
I’ve been trying to catch up with some blog reading this week and I loved this post by Beth over at Twinderelmo, Tomorrow. I’m sure as mums we all have days like this where we promise to ourselves tomorrow we will be less shouty and more fun mum, I know I do.
I eventually watched Gone Girl this week with hubby and we both loved it. I was mentally preparing myself for the ending as I know a lot of people were disappointed by it but I think by being a bit aware it didn’t feel such a disappointment. We were both a bit like, “Oh!” and that was about it. What a crazy lady she was.
I caught up on Pitch Perfect 2, not one for hubby to watch as he’ll chatter through it so it was a bit of me-time and a lot of cheesy singing.
And one for O, we watched Wreck-It Ralph, one of my kiddie fave films.
Just to prove we haven’t been complete couch potatoes I also watched O having a fantastic time playing with his cousin on New Brighton beach.
Saturday was a bit of a scorcher and we had already decided earlier in the day to go out for dinner. As it was so warm I popped on what is usually one of my holiday dresses, and it was nice to feel so summery.
(The cardi was on because the air con in the restaurant is usually on full blast but I did take it off and enjoy the sun).
Yesterday was A-level results day so I “heard” how well our students had got on. The vast majority had done really well and a few had done amazingly. I was so proud of them and it is those moments that make all the hard work and homework chasing worth it. Fingers crossed the Year 11 results are just as good.
This is a little bit of a sad one but we made our last visit to one of our favourite Italian restaurants. We have been going as a couple for years and I used to go with my mum and dad. It was where we
commiserated celebrated my A-level results, and we found out last week that it is closing on Sunday, for good. Sad times, but I am glad we got to go one last time.
Yesterday I took a huge step for me and joined Slimming World. During the week I uploaded our holiday pics from the big camera onto my laptop and was a little bit shocked at what I saw, and I wrote about wanting to get fitter here. I hadn’t ever pictured myself as someone who would join a slimming club but I think I will benefit from having a bit of help and the incentive of having a weekly weigh in. I don’t have huge amounts to lose, just over a stone, but I am looking forward to being able to look in my wardrobe and think what can I wear, rather than what can I fit into.
And that was our week. Tomorrow we are off to my mum and dads caravan in Wales for a few days and I’m really hoping the weather picks up. Caravans and torrential rain are not a good mix!
Have a lovely week. xxx
