One of the blogs I’ve recently found and really enjoyed reading is butwhymummywhy. In 2013 Morgana hosted a linky called “This Week I Love” which focused on the weeks highlights. With a slight revamp for the New Year, I promised myself this would become one of my regular link-ups. I love the idea of writing down what I’ve loved in the week as too soon it’s gone and the little details are forgotten
Read
Yesterday was Little O’s 2 year check up so for the first time in a long time we needed to get out his little red book. As the health visitor was running late it gave me the opportunity to read through the notes made when he was days/weeks old. Funny how you forget some of the little details, ones that seemed so important in the early days.
Watched
After two years (I think it’s been 2 years) the new Sherlock episode was on. I was so excited to find out how he’d “escaped” death. A bit disappointed that we didn’t actually find out but I still thought the episode was great!
Heard
The best thing I heard this week was the lovely news from two of our closest friends that their baby boy had arrived ten days early on New Years Day morning. As he’s a New Year baby they had a visit from the Mayor and received a commemorative silver spoon. Awwww!
Made
A slight cheat on this one, but I’ve made a start on getting healthy. I’ve signed up to do Survival of the Fittest (a 10km obstacle course) with a friend in November so I’m planning to spend the year getting prepped for it.
Wore
For only the second time I got the opportunity to wore my gorgeous Whistles leather pencil skirt when we went out for dinner with friends on Monday night. It’s possibly one of the most fabulous things in my wardrobe so doesn’t come out very often, but it always gets lots of comments when it does. Plus hubby loves it too!
And lastly…
This week I have loved just being at home as a family. The Christmas week is always a bit hectic so it’s been nice to just chill and spend time together. Hubby doesn’t get that much time off so it’s been great for him to spend so much time with Little O without having to worry about work.

Leather AND pencil skirt what a great combo, plus of course the opportunity to wear such an item of clothing.
One of my friends did a Survival of the Fittest thing, it was very muddy.
That’s the key thing. Normally we don’t go anywhere fancy enough for me to wear it. Must make hubby take me out more in 2014 🙂
The little red book does bring back many memories for me too.
Woah, that leather skirt is HOT, I love it. Bet you feel brilliant wearing that. Only wish I was a bit taller so I could wear pencil skirts that length too.
I’m not tall (5′ 4″) so a pair of killer heels need to be worn. Which is why we can’t go anywhere that requires me walking any distance!
I love my little ones red books, I still read my 9 year olds and its lovely to look back
wonder where our red books are! this is like the reasons to be cheerful linky I host 🙂
That’s one hell of a skirt!!! I love it. I have never written a thing in our little red books- thank goodness I have a blog to record stuff. I am dreadful at such things. 🙁
I have written anything in ours either, it was the health visitor notes I was reading. Funny to read back the comments made when he was only days old!
That leather skirt is amazing though. I don’t know what all this little red book thing is about. I am child-less though xx
I had no idea about the red book either before having little O. It’s their baby health record book xx
I was the same, never heard of it before until I had kids. Its’ great to have though and look back.
LOVING your skirt! That’s certainly lives up to your “not a frumpy mum” title 🙂 x
Thanks, I was in 2 minds whether to take it back when I first got it, but soooo glad I didn’t!
I definitely don’t feel frumpy in it 😉
Love the skirt!
Thanks so much for linking up, sorry it’s taken me so long to comment but I’ve been ill over the weekend.
Like everyone else, I love that skirt! I really like pencil skirts but they just don’t suit my figure, gutted!
We watched Sherlock too, so pleased it’s back on finally!
Have a great week xx
