Happy New Year and welcome to my first little loves of 2015. I can’t believe how fast the last year went but I am very excited for this new year and what may be ahead.
So how has your Christmas been? We’ve had a lovely one, although it seems to have flown by and I’m wishing it could last just a little bit longer. I always feel like I’m living in a little bubble over the Christmas holidays and I’m not ready for it to burst yet. Well, there’s still 3 days to go before back to work.
So here’s what we’ve been loving over the festive period.
Read I started a book! I’ve gotten into a terrible habit recently of starting books and giving up after a few chapters (very unlike me) but I am determined to finish this one. A lovely friend of mine always buys me a book for my birthday and I took myself off for a bath and started this one. A book about chocolate and Paris, what’s not to love?
Watched With no plans for New Years Eve we made a last minute decision to book tickets to watch the pantomime in Manchester. We booked with about 5 days to go so were really surprised we managed to get some really good seats that weren’t too expensive. It was Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, featuring Priscilla Presley and Warwick Davis. Warwick was brilliant and for a 69 year old Priscilla looked amazing! I know she’s had a bit of work but fair play to her can move around. Hubby is a bit of a closet Elvis fan and couldn’t get his head round that he was seeing the King’s ex on stage, bless him!
Heard Other than Christmas songs I’ve not really listened to much over the holidays. What I have heard a lot of O’s constant chatter and he has been making me laugh so much. One of my favourite conversations came when we talking about names. We were explaining that although we are Mummy and Daddy we also have other names (I had no idea how confusing a concept this would be for a 3 year old). I asked O, “What does Mummy call Daddy?”
He replied instantly, “A Pig!”
Just to clarify I called hubby a pig once because he’d burped! Better watch what I say!
Made With a bit of help from hubby (okay, okay, a lot of help, actually, I only made gravy) we made Christmas dinner for nine people. It was pretty tasty if I say so myself although I was stuffed afterwards.
I did make a nice festive table though, I can claim credit for that!
And I may have made a few funny faces playing with O’s new games!
Wore The gold skirt has made a few appearances over the past couple of weeks, although it isn’t very forgiving at hiding a big meal! (Top Tip: grab a small child to hide post Christmas dinner belly)
And I did sort a gorgeous pair of orange ice skates for a trip to the Spinningfields ice rink. I was a little bit nervous about going skating with a 3 year old, with justification as it would turn out. O’s legs went everywhere as soon as he stepped on the ice, but luckily an orange seal came to our rescue and we all had an amazing time!
And lastly… Hubby has been hinting for the past 6 months that he had got me a big surprise for Christmas. He’s usually rubbish at keeping secrets but he did manage not to blurt it out and on Christmas Day I unwrapped my lovely, shiny new MacBook Air! And I’m a little bit in love with it, so pretty! I’m slowly figuring out how it all works but it is so much quicker than my old one which died on me a few weeks before Christmas. It was so sweet that when he gave it me, he said it should help with my blogging too!
There’s been so much more that we have loved too over this break but I think that’ll be another blog post, if I ever get round to writing it. I’ve quite enjoyed having a little blog over the festive period.
Thank you for popping over to read my first little loves of 2015. I hope you all have a great one!

You sound like you’ve had a lovely Christmas. My mother in law got me a macbook for Christmas but it’s not compatible with the scrapbook software I’ve spent the last 5 years collecting so I’m sadly swapping it for a windows laptop and she’s having the macbook. Happy new year! #littleloves x

A pig … LOVE it! They are so funny aren’t they and take in so much. I know what you mean about the legs going everywhere on ice, G’s did. Thankfully he steadied himself but bambi on ice sprung to mind. You can’t manage without a seal can you really. x

We really couldn’t have managed without a seal, I don’t think he’d have managed any better with a penguin. I’m glad we went in the morning as although it was busy, it wasn’t rammed! xx

We had a panic on Christmas Eve when we realised we didn’t have enough crackers for everyone and then managed to pick those up half price in Marks and Spencers (and maybe 2 more boxes for future years!) xx
