This is a very special Friday for me as it’s my last day in work for what will be almost a year. Yes, maternity leave starts as of 3:15 today! I’ve been looking forward to this day for so long but now it is here I feel quite overwhelmed. For so long it had felt we would never get here, finishing work to start the final countdown to welcoming our second baby, and now the day is here I feel quite emotional about it.
Read
Due to finishing today I’ve been busy organising everything work related to hand over so not had too much time to catch up on any reading. I have bought that latest copy of Gurgle which I’m booking in time to read next week with a cup of tea and my feet up.
Watched
Lots!! By the end of the day all I want to do is drag myself onto the couch and watch TV so there’s lot to fill my watched section this week.
We only finished season 2 of Peaky Blinders last night so we have the first episode of the new series taped (I don’t think I’ll ever not say taped) ready to watch tonight. We also started a new Netflix series Power which was my husbands choosing but then I ended up watching 3 episodes back to back on Sunday night, something I may have regretted when I was knackered for most of Monday.
Partly as a result of staying up late on Sunday and having a busy couple of days we decided a trip to the cinema would be an ideal way to spend a rainy Bank Holiday Monday and I took O to watch Zootropolis which we both really enjoyed.
Made
We have made the most of the beautiful weather (sorry for the poor link) for the past few days and we headed to one of our local parks yesterday for a play and to soak up a bit of sun. It seems most of the local area had the same idea but it was lovely to be outside and any excuse for an ice cream. O’s favourite part is the children’s zoo which we walked around three times.
I wore my maternity dungaree dress to Blog On last weekend and I think that’s the most exciting thing I can mention here.
The only downside to the weather getting warmer is that the vast majority of my maternity wardrobe is winter wear and there isn’t that much for sunnier days. It could be an interesting few weeks clothes wise if the weather stays as it is!
Heard
Some great speakers last week at Blog On MOSI. My two favourites were Emily Leary from A Mummy Too and the Pinterest talk from Rosalium. I always find it fascinating to hear other bloggers talk, and the Pinterest talk has left me with lots to do when I have a bit more spare time next week.
It was also a great opportunity to chat to some other lovely bloggy ladies, some of whom I have met before and some who you feel like you know even though you’ve never met. After feeling a bit nervous about going this year, I had a great day and the main reason for that is the people that were there!
And Lastly..
As it is my last day in work (did I mention I start maternity leave today?) O is off to have a sleepover at his grandparents and hubby is taking me out to one of our favourite restaurants for dinner. A chance to dress up, it may be the last time in a while, and then a good nights sleep without being woken up at 6am!
Have a wonderful week, and see you next Friday.
Ah lovely enjoy your last day – so exciting! I’m loving this sunshine too it is so nice to spend the whole day outside! Enjoy your weekend and your night out with hubbie xxx
