Bloggy Friends, Bank Holidays & Backing Off #LittleLoves

Last week I was feeling a little bit “meh” and I think that probably came across in my Little Love posts.  I guess we all have times when we feel a little bit fed up but the past week has been a 100% better.  I came to a decision this week to back off a little bit from the blog, for the past few weeks it has started to feel too much like work and I haven’t been enjoying it like I used to.  You can read a bit more about my reasons why here but it felt like such a weight had been lifted deciding to step back and focus on blogging just for me for a while.

One thing I did say was that I was taking a break from was linkys but there is one exception and that is my Friday Little Loves post. I love writing these posts and focusing on the positives of the week, that has never been more important than it has for the past few months.  I’m sorry I didn’t manage to get round and comment on everyone last week, family bank holiday fun kinda got in the way but I promise to do better this week.

Read
In blogland this week I don’t think you could have escaped the bad mum v’s perfect mum debate that has been going on.  I’ve read a lot of these posts (from both sides) but haven’t commented.  To be honest, it has all made be feel a little bit uncomfortable.  For me a few of those posts felt quite personal and targeted towards certain bloggers and as someone who tries to avoid conflict at all costs it made me a little sad.  I think that freedom of speech is such an important right and whilst I may not agree with what someone says or writes I support their right to say it.  If someone writes something I don’t like, I stop reading and move on.

Watched
Last Sunday it was a wet and miserable morning and I made a last minute decision to take O to the cinema to watch Paddington (oh how I love Cineworlds Movies For Juniors, such a bargain).  What a great film, I loved it, probably more than O, and now I want a little talking bear to come and live with us.

Heard
Last Saturday I went to BlogOn in Manchester.  I went last year, in what was my first ever blogging event, and it was really nice to return this year and have some familiar faces to look out for.  I had such a great day catching up with some lovely ladies.  Personally for me, I felt that a lot of the day was steered towards PR and working with brands and I would have liked a little bit more about writing and styling.  The photography session was great although I failed miserably at the taking photos part as I was too busy chatting and although I really enjoyed the Vlogging session I’m even more convinced it’s not for me.

In the past when I have been to blogging conferences I have come away feeling inspired by the sessions I have attended, this time it was a little different.  I came away inspired by the other bloggers who I spent the day with, ladies who have amazing blogs that I love reading and feel very lucky to get the chance to have a chat with in  real life too.

Made
In the children’s goodie bag from Blog On was a construction kit to build your own giant hornet.  It took me about an hour and a half and is quite a monstrosity but O seems to like it and even took it to bed with him last night.

Wore
I’ve been wearing my New Look T’s over the weekend with a new midi skirt and my boots.  It’s really hard to dress when the weather is so changeable, come on summer!

Yes, my fringe desperately needs a trim!

And Lastly…
Aren’t bank holidays fab?  We had such a lovely couple of days being silly together, playing on the park, going to our local community day and just hanging out as a family.  If only there was a three day weekend every week.

It’s so easy to get into a funk and I’m pleased that this week has been so much better for you! I’m with you on avoiding conflict and I’m the worst person to attempt a debate or argument I take it too personally! I’ve only seen the start of Paddington it’s supposed to be fab will have to add to my growing list! A 3 day weekend would be perfect- I’ll dream of that one. Have a good week xx

I’m exactly the same, I take things too personally too and I think a few bloggers will have sat there this week and thought “is this aimed at me” I know I would have been very upset and I’m guessing they’ve been a bit hurt by it all.
Definitely watch Paddington, it’s a fab film xx

You look fab in that t-shirt / jacket ensemble – love it!
I went to Blog on Cymru and although I LOVED the photography session I also found that I was more inspired by the lovely bloggers around me. The PR session was a bit ‘same old same old’ and that’s not why I blog to be honest.
Glad you’re feeling more inspired this week, it’s so easy to feel meh about it all sometimes.
    Have an awesome weekend!

The debate has definitely created a bit of a stir this week. I usually try and avoid confrontation too but I am one of the people who feels strongly about it and as much as I agree in people being able to say anything they like on their own blogs, I also believe that young children should have some kind of rights when it comes to what is said and shared about them online. I think it’s one thing to write an honest post about how as a parent you’ve had a hard day but it’s another to see a photo of a child clearly upset with people leaving comments about how they are laughing at it. Or read something that hasn’t been written for support but just to try and create cheap laughs at the expense of the kids. I can see why the person in question might have felt attacked and that was never my intention but I think if you are going to write controversial things online then you do run the risk of people disagreeing with you. Anyway, on a lighter note! I love Movies for Juniors, such a bargain although I haven’t been brave enough to try and take both the kids yet. I think in about a year Tiger might be ready to sit through a movie at the cinema but not quite yet! x

Glad you had fun at Blog On. I will never be a vlogger either, I’d be so rubbish at it ha ha.

Oh the debate. Let’s just say I am glad I’m leaving the country and blog land for a little bit. I’ve felt uncomfortable too for lots of reasons.

Have a lovely weekend and speak to you in a couple of weeks!! xx

Your ‘Read’ paragraph is so sensible and spot on it’s a wonder, and a real shame, why everyone else can’t see it. I hope you taking a step back redresses the balance a bit xx

Oh hunny your kind words just made my day completely. I love you swings with O so cute. You are such a fun mommy. I was the same this year about BlogOn coming away being inspired by people more this year than learning which is all learning in itself. Lovely #littleloves (that photo is so grainy naughty me for not taking a better one). ๐Ÿ™‚ See you soon.

I love reading your posts. Looks like you had a lovely bank holiday.
You inspire me to go to blog events but I don’t feel I’m quite ready yet.
I couldn’t agree more that if you don’t agree with what someone is writing, stop reading and move on, I cant understand all this hate and spiteful comments. Freedom of speech is a right. #LittleLoves

I’m glad you are feeling a little better! It looks like you guys really enjoyed the long weekend. Isn’t it funny how sometimes we need it to officially be called a holiday, before we make the effort to enjoy life more! Well, I do that sometimes… ! Love the bloggy meet up. I hope to come to one some day.. maybe next year! Have a fab week x

Gorgeous photos this week Jo, and you speak such sense regarding the Blogland debate, and also on taking a step back too. I find myself stepping back more and more (this is the only Linky I join in with now!) because it can all get a bit much at times. It’s good to just take the pressure off for a bit! Have the loveliest weekend Jo-Jo xxx

That pic of you and your little one on the swing is adorable! I haven’t been to a blog conference for years, would love to go to another one, but you’re right meeting up with other bloggers is often better than the conference itself! Hope you have a great week x

The blog debate really has got everyone riled this week, I mention it in my post too.

A blog break sounds sensible – it is meant to be fun after all and we are far too hard on ourselves

    Hope you’re doing ok x

Oh I was super jealous when I saw all the photos of you lot having fun together at the conference wish I could have been there. Loving your outfit too!
I know what you mean about the debate, although I stand by my post I have regretted wading in on it a little bit even though I was only trying to bring a bit of balance to it. All the drama puts me right off blogging really.
Hope you have a lovely weekend xxx

You look fab, love the denim jacket/t-shirt combo! I deny the same re: the great debate is something that has made me feel very uncomfortable too! It’s pretty simple for me, I just refuse to ever call my children names like that. We need to remember that they can look back at the things we have written and how hurt would you feel if your mother had called you a “Little Sh*t” and the like! Looks like Blog On was great fun, I’ve yet to attend a blogging meet up/conference! Hope ye have a great weekend xxxxx

Interestingly, I did manage to escape the real vs polished debate completely! Until last night when I read a few. I think you make a very good point about moving on if it’s not what you like. No one should feel the need to defend themselves, that’s for sure. Hope you’re enjoying your ‘backing off’ period. Great idea to refresh the mind and remember what life is all about ๐Ÿ™‚ x

I always take mini breaks from blogging when it all gets too much, and sometimes I agree that it does feel a bit like work! I started blogging as a little hobby to keep me busy in the evenings but I must admit I do feel pressured to post occasionally and I hate that. If it isn’t fun anymore then you are definitely doing the right thing by stepping back.

I have totally missed all the drama, although I have seen several people mention it now. I’m so confused and have no idea what it’s all about. Probably for the best.

I really LOVE your fringe, even though you think it needs cutting. I wish I could pull off a massive fringe.

    Have a lovely weekend xxx

I really never get involved in blog debates but I did see some of the stuff going round- I can agree with both sides really. I would have loved to have caught up at BlogOn Jo and it is a shame I wasn’t there this year. Good for you taking a step back from your blog if that’s how you feel. x

Read this last week Jo and have only just got around to commenting. I was so glad to chat to you again at Blog On but next time lets just skip the conference thing and just go for a drink eh? I absolutely take more away from chatting to you lovely ladies than anything else. I completely understand you’re taking a step back, I end up doing that a few times a year because sometimes it is just better to live life rather than sitting at a computer, however often you post you know you will still have loads of readers who love to see it! xx
