The Forever Home Tour – The Bathroom

When we first visited our house we were adamant that we would need to decorate every single room, and the bathroom was no different.  The colour scheme was not exactly to our liking.

We did agree that one item did need to stay, and that was the bath.  It was beautiful (bright yellow paint aside).  It’s probably a good thing that we decided it was a keeper as due to it being cast iron I’m not sure it would have been the easiest item to remove.

Apart from the bath, we weren’t too sure what look we wanted.  Our previous bathrooms had always been bright white and we fancied a bit of a change. Personally I’m not a huge fan of blue bathrooms as, for some reason, I always think they feel a bit cold.  My husband wasn’t so keen on my idea to have a bit of hot pink in there so we hit the shops and the internet for some bathroom ideas.

After spending many hours browsing bathroom showrooms we decided on a very pale green theme, I think we were won over by these tiles and themed the room around them.

The patterned tiles make up one feature wall and the rest of the room was tiled with a complimentary style.  The bath remains the main focal point for the room and six years on I still love climbing in it for a soak.

To update the bath from the yellow theme we painted the outside all white and added the silver for the clawed feet.

There was already an existing separate shower which just needed to be updated.  The large rain shower head makes it lovely and refreshing in a morning and my husband loves the body jets.  Unfortunately I’m a little too small to get the full benefit of them as they just end up jetting into my face, we probably should have been a little more careful with the measurements when we were positioning the shower.

Apart from the bath one of my other favourite features of the room is the heated towel rail, a sure sign I’m getting old.  But it is very pretty!

We moved into the house six years ago and there are some areas of the room that are starting to look a little bit tired so it may need a little update in the not to distant future.  However, it is the perfect room for grabbing a bit of quality me-time and spending an hour or so wallowing in the bath.

That is a fantastic transformation! Well done. It looks so much better. Lucky you that the previous owners had enough taste to put in that bath!

Oh my goodness, why did you not want to keep the original colour scheme??!! Ha, you’ve done a great job. I would have kept the bath, too. It’s lovely.

Aah what a lovely bathroom!! Being able to paint a roll-top to tie in with the colour scheme is SO good isn’t it? I painted ours pale pink very recently — it’s totally changed the look of the space. This is a lovely room to have a soak in 🙂 Thanks for linking up Jo — I really appreciate it #HomeEtc

What do you mean you didn’t like the original colour scheme? 😉 It looks so beautiful now, what a brilliant job and a bonus to have such an amazing bath too – I would spend all time in there X #HomeEtc
