Getting A Bed Fit For A Queen Doesn’t Have To Be A Royal Pain

The bed is the most important piece of furniture in the home, as well as being the centrepiece of the bedroom. It can make your life much easier or harder depending on just how well it helps you sleep. For that reason, we’re taking a look at how to quickly make sure your bed is the right fit for you and to make sure that it stays that way.

The Goldilocks equation

The sooner you find out what’s too soft and what’s too hard, the more quickly you will find the bed that gives you the right mixture of comfort and softness. When choosing a bed, use a mattress buying guide to help you narrow your options down. Primarily, having a mattress that suits you is about learning what your sleeping position is and choosing one that offers the right support depending on your posture. For instance, it you sleep flat on your back, then a firmer mattress can make sure that your hips and shoulders aren’t pressing too deeply into the bed, getting your back out of alignment and causing you back pain.

The right bedclothes

Beyond the visual flair, your choice of bedclothes has a lot more to do with how comfortably you sleep through the night. When choosing bedclothes, you have to take into account a few different things. A higher thread count feels softer, but the choice of material is more important. For instance, a light, breathable material such as linen might be cooler and more comfortable in the summer. Meanwhile, for winter, cosy cotton sheets let less heat escape.

The essential maintenance

To make sure that your bed and bedding stay as comfortable as possible, it’s wise to put together a bed maintenance schedule. Knowing when to change and wash your sheets, when to flip your mattress is essential. Similarly, you should learn how to get rid of stains from your mattress as soon as possible. Otherwise, your bed may start to look and feel dated sooner than it should. Don’t forget to invest in a mattress protector that provides a little extra cover without changing the feel of the bed too much. It can be a real lifesaver.

Cosy it up

A comfortable bed that makes a good night’s sleep all the easier isn’t all about the practical concerns such as mattress type, bedding materials, and maintenance, either. It’s also about setting the right atmosphere for sleep. Adding a little extra comfort with the right pillows and cushions play a big role in that, as does making sure that the bed fits the aesthetic of the bedroom. If you’re having trouble sleeping, a little lavender spray on the pillows can create a fresh, relaxing scent to help you shut your eyes, as well. Comfort matters, so don’t neglect it.

Never underestimate the importance of the bed. If it’s aged, in bad shape, or dirty, it can dramatically impact how well you sleep through the night. Hopefully, the tips above ensure that never comes to pass.

    Great tips!

I have trying out different pillows searching for one that is better for my neck. I am probably among the minority when I say this, but sometimes I feel better without a pillow at all.
