When my eldest started in reception I worried about so many things, would he miss me, would he make friends, would he like the lunches? It didn’t even occur to me to worry about head lice. Of course, I’d heard rumours of how quickly they could spread in young children, but I thought it was just that, a rumour.
Oh, those thoughts were going to come back to bite me!
We first got the message from the school late one afternoon, there was an outbreak of nits amongst the infants and could all parents be vigilant in checking their children. Seeing as head lice hadn’t been anywhere on my parental radar I had nothing in the house to check or help eliminate the little blighters if we found any. An emergency dash to the local supermarket and I came home with a head lice comb and head lice treatment in case we found any.
When you picture parenthood you certainly don’t imagine yourself painstakingly combing through your child’s hair looking for head lice, it isn’t pleasant for anyone. My little boy was upset and as a mum I was upset at the thought of my son being irritated by little bugs crawling over his head. I was even more upset when I found he was one of the unlucky ones to have them.
One thing I hadn’t realised about head lice was how easy the treatment would be. We were lucky enough to choose Vamousse Head Lice Treatment off the shelf, a treatment which is proven to kill 100% of lice and eggs in scientific tests within just 15 minutes meaning there is no need to reapply. Brilliant news for a busy mum with a boy who doesn’t want to sit for long. Head lice is a common problem with more than 1 in 3 children in the UK getting them at some point during the year, and several more times in my son’s reception year we had the message that head lice were back. We chose to use Vamousse Protective Shampoo to help prevent head lice coming back into the house and I am so glad we did as so far we have been a head lice free house.
When you’re thinking about getting some plasters and bandages for your bathroom cabinet, my top tip is to make sure you have some Vamousse Head Lice Treatment in there too. That way if head lice do come calling you can deal with the problem straight away.
