How to spot if your toddler is feeling a little tired:
1. They yawn.
2. They tug on their ears.
3. They appear a little irrational and may be easily upset.
4. They scream blue murder if you don’t agree to their every whim (how unreasonable of you to not let them kick the dogs!) and the more you try to appease them the louder the screams become.
5. They curl up in a naked angry sobbing ball after bath-time (your fault, you did take them out of the bath when it was empty to prevent them getting cold, you terrible parent). They lie on the upstairs landing refusing to get dressed, refusing to put a nappy on, whilst shouting at you the entire time! They will also insist they are not tired, and any mention of the t-word from you will only result in more shouting and crying. You have been warned.
P.S. the promise of Abney & Teal, with milk and a biccie does not work on a tired toddler. You’ll need to think again!
P.P.S. as soon as Daddy comes through the door they will return to being your normal loving child, leaving you wondering if you have completely lost your marbles and just imagined the scene of 5 minutes earlier.
Haha this is so cute, I can already imagine Arthur being like this!!
Wasn’t so cute at the time, but 10 minutes later he’s all sweetness and light!
lol standard!
Bloomin’ monkey!
So flipping true! My four, six, and even the eight year old still do this sometimes! ;). Great post Jo! Xx
I hate to tell you but this is exactly how a tween behaves when she is tired too (minus the nappy bit!). Very amusing 🙂 #sharewithme
Yes, yes and yes! Totally recognise the whole scenario 🙂
Love this. I couldn’t stop laughing at the p.p.s. as this happens to me all the time. Buba will be on a crazy rampage and his daddy walks in and an angel he becomes. lol . Thanks for linking up Share With Me. I love this list. So true. #sharewithme
This is so funny, yet so true!!

Oh yes – so very, very true! Never ever use the ‘T’ word! #sharewithme
ha ha it’s so funny because it is true! Toddler’s can be irrational at the best of times but tiredness amps it up to ridiculousness! Love that daddy coming home as the same affect in your house as it does mine – we can have had a really difficult day but daddy comes in and Monkey is sunshine & smiles, I would be annoyed by it… if I wasn’t so happy to have the pressure ease off me! 🙂 #sharewithme
hehe so true. I’m sure Hubster thinks I make it up sometimes 😉
There’s nothing worse than a tired toddler……although maybe a teething toddler is worse……..or a toddler going through the ‘terrible twos’ lol ok they’re all pretty bad! Great post 🙂 #sharewithme
I’m sorry, i truly am. I shouldn’t be laughing my clogs off at this (for i have been there today!) but hahahahahahathis made my evening!! xx
Oh my I sooooooooo remember those days! I hate the whole trying to get in the pram/carseat job, but that’s another story… and wahhhhh ive got it all to come with my 11month old daughter… HELP lol #Sharewithme
Oh yes, how very true! Brilliant 🙂 #ShareWithMe
Ha ha – been there! X
Oh bless him!! Mine do all of that and more!!

Very true, It is the ability to be totally exhausted and tearful and then back to their normal self in the blink of an eye that baffles me!
This didn’t end when I grew up I swear I’m still like a baby I get super cranky and irrational if I’m sleepy!
