It’s been just over a month since I looked at the holidays snaps that prompted Fit For The Festive Season. In those pics I barely recognised myself and the flabby belly was the first thing my eyes were drawn to when looking at them. Since then I have admitted to myself that I could do with a little bit of help to lose some weight and have joined my local Slimming World club.
I have to admit I’d always thought Slimming World was for people who had a lot of weight to lose, I never thought it would work for me so I joined with the attitude I would give it a few weeks and if it wasn’t working I would stop going. Well, it is fair to say I am a Slimming World convert and I am delighted to report I have lost 8lbs in four weeks following their Extra Easy plan, earning my half a stone certificate last Thursday.
In a half-hearted attempt to slim down a bit a few years ago I signed up to Weight Watchers online, but never really got to grips with it. Slimming World has been so easy to incorporate into our everyday live and it doesn’t feel like I am on a diet at all. I haven’t been hungry once and I love that I can still have a few treats (syns) along the way.
The big thing for me has been cutting down on alcohol. I’d got into the habit of coming home from work and having a glass of wine or two with dinner most nights and a few more at the weekends, but since starting Slimming World I’ve only been having a glass or two at the weekend and none at all during the week and I feel much better for it.
In terms of exercise I haven’t been doing much, but I did buy myself a weighted hula hoop to try and tone up my tummy. It is a giggle trying to keep it up but for the first week I had a very battered and bruised middle area which has now luckily gone down. The box did warn that may happen but some of the bruises looked horrific!
In just four weeks I already feel a lot better about myself, as well as the 8lb loss I’ve also lost just over 6 inches from my waist, hips and thighs. My clothes are fitting much better and the size 10’s are coming back out again. As part of a wardrobe clear out yesterday I found the dress I wore on my hen do (almost 6 years ago) and although it was a little on the snug side I was
a bit very chuffed that I could get back into it.
