Fit for The Festive Season #1

We’ve been having a lovely summer holiday, our trip to Turkey was wonderful and since we got home I’ve loved having the opportunity to spend every day with O.  One thing that has been niggling me has been my weight.  I’d promised myself when we returned from Spain back in May I would do something about losing those extra pounds but, in reality, I haven’t done much.

I feel uncomfortable and clothes aren’t fitting as well as I would like.  Today I uploaded our holiday pictures from the big camera.  Most of the pics on my iPhone don’t include me as I’m the one taking the snaps but hubby took quite a lot of pics on the Nikon and there were quite a few of me.

Not the pics where you’re sucking your tummy in when looking in the mirror and moving around to get a flattering angle.  These were pics he snapped as I was walking around the resort, and they made me sad.  I looked bloated and there was a lot more flab than I had imagined in my head.  Apart from just after I’d had O, this was the biggest I think I have ever been.

I had noticed the weight had been creeping on, buying a size 12 was becoming the norm rather than the exception, but I hadn’t realised to such an extent.  I know a size 12 isn’t big but it is for my frame and I don’t carry extra weight very well as I’m only 5′ 4″.  If I was happy with my body the size of clothes I am wearing wouldn’t bother me but at the moment I’m not happy.  So I’m setting myself a little mission to get fit (and lose the flab) in time for Christmas.

Last Christmas I was in quite good shape but when January kicked in and I couldn’t exercise for a few months all the hard work I had done unravelled.  My willpower is poor to say the least so hopefully by documenting on here it will give me some focus.  I’ve treated myself to a few new items for Autumn and they would look a whole lot better if I was a little more toned.

Since returning from holidays I have been going to the gym three times a week and every morning I have my Nutribullet smoothie but that doesn’t mean that I can eat and drink what I want the rest of the time.  I need to be a little lot more disciplined, and it starts now!

I’ll pop back with an update next month to let you know how I’m getting on .

Oh my, this was me at this exact same time last year. I saw photos and couldn’t believe it was me. I started being more conscious of what I was eating and also running regularly and managed to lose two stone between August and December. I’ve since put on a few pounds but feel like I very much have everything under control now. You can absolutely do this. And it’s a great time to start and looking towards Christmas to achieve results.
