The Mummy Tag

I have been tagged by the lovely Jenny at Let’s Talk Mommy to complete the Mummy Tag which is a great way to find out a little bit more about mummies who are blogging.  Below are my responses and I’ll be tagging a few other bloggers at the bottom.

1. Are you a Stay at Home Mum, or a Working Mum?

I’m a working mum.  I went back to work full time after my maternity leave but reduced my hours to 4 days a week after a year.  I hated working full time as I felt I never got to see my son during the week.  This is a much better option.

2. Would you have it any other way?

I’d love to go down to 3 days a week, but it’s not really an option at the minute, maybe in the future.  I love being at home with O, but I do like having some time out of the house as well.

3. Do you co-sleep?

Not really.  When O was younger he was a fantastic sleeper, but now he’s a bit older he manages to appear in our bed halfway through the night fast asleep and neither of us have the heart to move him back so one of us cuddles up to him and we go back to sleep.

4. What is your one must-have item for your baby?

Yep, baby wipes.  I get into a mild panic when I’m down to my last couple of packs.  There’s always at least 4 packs on the go at any one time.

5. How many kids do you plan on having?

I’d love to have two.  Once upon a time I wanted three, but at the moment I’ll be very grateful to have a second and give my little man a sibling.

6. Date nights? How many do you have per month?

We don’t have many date nights where we go out out, but we always make a big deal of Friday and Saturday nights and cook a nice meal and sit down to eat together.  Saying that though, we are off out on Sunday for a belated Valentines Day meal and I am very excited at the thought of getting all dressed up.

7. Your child’s favourite show?

It’s hard to pick just one.  His favourites at the moment are Ben and Holly, Tree Fu Tom and Octonauts.  It used to be Peppa but he’s gone right off her!

8. Name one thing you bought before you had the baby and never ended up using?

Luckily we didn’t buy it as we were lent it, but a bottle warmer.  It sat under the changing unit for months.  I remember one night trying to use it as I felt I should give it a go (nothing to do with the fact I couldn’t be bothered to go downstairs).  In my sleep deprived state I couldn’t get the supid thing to warm up and it went back under the unit.  I think it may still be there.

9. Your child’s favourite food?

Sweet Potato, he loves it.

10. How many cars does your family have?

Two.

11. Weight gain, before pregnancy, during, after and now?

I piled on the pounds when I was pregnant and went up 3 stones.  Not surprising considering the amount of cake I was eating.  It took about 10 months to get back to pre-baby weight but I’m a lot more wobbly than I was before and could do with toning up, a lot!

12. Dream holiday with your kids?

I’d love to take O to Disneyland when he gets a bit older, and take him skiing.

13. Dream holiday without your kids?

New York.  My husband keeps promising to take me, but is always a bit vague when I push for dates.

14. How has your life changed since having kids?

As much as people can try to tell you how much your life will change when you have kids nothing can fully prepare you for when it happens.  Spontaneity goes out the window, and any me-time is seriously reduced, but when you look at your little munchkin none of that matters.

16. Where do you shop for your kids?

I love Mini Boden and stock up whenever there’s a sale on.  I love the bright colours and the fact the clothes aren’t too grown up.  I’m a little bit sad he won’t be fitting into their baby gear for much longer as they stop at 2-3, and I can’t get used to looking at the big boys clothes yet.

17. Favourite make-up and skincare products?

I’m a big Benefit fan, although I think I’m a bit of a sucker for their packaging, it’s so pretty.  For skincare I always find myself heading over to the Clinique counter but that’s mostly because it’s what my mums always used.

18. Huggies or Pampers?

I used Huggies when O was a newborn because I like the shaped nappies they made which went round their belly button, but am now a Pampers fan.

19. Have you always wanted kids?

Yes, I always pictured myself being a mum.

20. Best part of being a mum?

Where do you start?  The toddler kisses and cuddles, hearing my little man tell me he loves me, watching his little face light up when he hears his daddy’s car pull up.  And these are only a few of the great bits, I could be writing for hours.  Being a mum is fab!
