Our Kitchen Art Gallery

When you walk into a house there are certain tell tale signs that let you know children live there.  It may be the toys that are taking over the downstairs (please tell me that’s not just our house), or the pack of baby wipes that are a constant ornament on the dining room table.  Or it’s a quick glance at the fridge.

When I pictured myself as a mother I always imagined a fridge full of my children’s “artwork” and the first time O came home from nursery with a picture he’d made it was proudly displayed on the fridge.  Over time our collection has grown and I can’t help but smile every time I look at each of the pictures.  Each one brings back a memory and I love that our side by side fridge means that we have more space to display O’s pics.

On one of my favourite cards that has ever come home is this I Love You card which O made for Valentines Day last year using his handprints. I keep planning to put it into a frame to make sure it can always be displayed.

Apparently this is me as a monster, and I like to make cakes and apparently I can fly.

A lovely family portrait which I suspect he had a little bit of help with.

There may also be a piece of my own work up there.

Each item on the fridge has a special meaning to us all. The cake that my nephew drew for O for his birthday last year, the postcard which I picked up in Paperchase because it makes me giggle, the reward chart from when we were potty training last summer (which is about to be used again to encourage O to finish his dinner), each piece make me feel something, as all art should. Our little kitchen gallery.
